The Masai is designed to climb everything, and climb it well. On long, multi-pitch trad routes, you encounter many types of terrain, and you need a single climbing shoe that can excel everywhere and remain comfortable. The Masai is built on a narrower, more symmetrical last than the other Tenaya climbing shoe models, and it delivers edging power like no other. A supportive midsole keeps your confidence high and your feet feeling strong throughout the day, and the low-volume heel creates a snug fit. Climbers around the world count on the Masai when they need to know exactly what to expect from their shoe, every time: power, precision, and comfort.

My favorite climbing shoes. They are the perfect all-around shoe, edge very well, and fit me very well. They come in sizes 14+ (US), which is hard to come by in climbing shoes. I'm on my 4th pair in 6 years, love them!

Best climbing shoe I've ever owned. Amazing edging. Good everywhere. This shoe made me a better climber.

The best pair of shoes I've owned. I've had the same pair for almost 4 years now and are so confident in them that I can smear on anything and stand on dimes. My feet are comfortable for hours. They're starting to get holes in them now and it's time for new ones, but after 4 years and being resoled once, it makes sense. They're no longer yellow and my heel slips out on hard heel hooks (solved by tying laces through the loops behind the leg), but they have been amazing shoes and I recommend them to anyone I see.

By the way, don't buy as your first shoe. Learn foot work technique first so you don't wear them out. Good footwork keeps the rubber on the shoe instead of scraped down the wall. Climbed nearly every day for the last few years and used right, these shoes more than held up, the excel.

I use the Tenaya Masai for steep cracks, multi pitch trad, and as a single travel shoe for international climbing trips. If you climb it all (trad, sport, bouldering) and are looking for a single shoe that does it all, the Masai is for you. If you're more of a boulderer and/or sport climber, check out the high performance (and comfortable) Tenaya Mundaka.
