The Good: It weighs practically nothing and packs down into a stuff sack about 4" tall and 2" in diameter... this means it is small enough to pack into any alpine climbing pack, but still offers several adjustments. I head into the mountains without it, and sometimes carry it along with a more comfortable Mammut harness, just in case something happens. It is perfect for what it is designed for: An emergency harness in case of an unexpected fall into a crevasse. Wear it while ski mountaineering or alpine climbing and you'll forget it's there, but it will save your butt in a crevasse fall. It's very light and comfortable to wear while walking/skiing and won't get in the way or restrict your movement.

The bad: This harness is NOT designed for rock climbing or other sports where you expect to spend a lot of time with your weight actually in the harness. It's designed for ski mountaineering and alpine climbing, where ideally, you will spend little or no time actually "sitting" into the harness with a taut rope. IT is very uncomfortable to spend any amount of time sitting in (e.g. rock climbing) and I would only want to fall on it in an emergency... but that's what I carry it for... glacier travel where ideally it never takes a fall.

The verdict: Seriously a great friend to carry with you when you expect to travel on glaciated areas. Not a replacement for a rock harness and definitely not the only harness you want to own. I keep it in the bottom of my mountaineering pack and it only comes out for glacier travel. It is so light and small you'll never think twice about having it in your backpack, and when you need it, it will definitely be there for you.

This product was purchased for ski/touring (not climbing) as a light weight option to wear over winter gear for rare fall protection. Well, the first time if got used to repel-down, one of the leg buckles snapped, leaving one leg unsecured and dangling during the descent. A terrible disappointment for a product seldom used, kept clean and in good dry storage. Not our expectations for a black diamond product. It seems like the product sacrificed quality to achieve the ligthweight version. What's the point if the equipment will fail at a critical moment??? Something very flawed in the design. Also the waist belt could be 6-8 inches longer - it was very difficult to put on over winter gear (male user, 180 lbs). As it was, we needed to be 2 people to put it on (L/XL size). The concept is appealing. The product is disappointing. We do not recommend at all.

Love this harness for alpine ascents and mountaineering. Used it on several trip in the high sierras and northern California Mt. Shasta.

I love this harness. It is my back-up harness that stays in my bag everywhere I go. I can't tell you how many times in the course of my career I've been asked to jump up and take a lot at some rigging or something and I've just been able to pull my harness out of my bag and slip it on! It's not super padded or ridiculously comfortable for long climbs, but it packs down super small and is far more comfortable than any comparable brand I've tried.

The very best light harness for mountain climbing

Wanted a low-volume harness that didn't take up so much room in suitcase or pack. This harness fits the bill. Easy to put on. Comfortable. Climbed Pollox and the Matterhorn in it, as well as used it for a via ferrata and multi-pitch rock climbing. Had to tighten the M/L fully for a 32" waist. Great purchase.

I bought this to wear in the deer stand, as I was tired of the cumbersome shoulder straps on my last harness. This harness easily adjusts to go over my early season pants or late season bulky insulated clothing. I regret not making the switch sooner!

I've only used this harness in the gym so far but I've been very pleased with it. Obviously it's ultra light and it comes with a stuff sack to keep it all contained. Not the most comfortable harness as there is literally no padding, but it's not designed to be comfortable. I'm looking forward to using this on Ecuadorian volcanoes in December and Denali in May!

Really is for alphine mountaineering, which is why I purchased it. not comfortable when hanging on technical rock for long periods rock climbing.

Harness fits a little smaller than I expected or I am just too fat. However I feel it is the best lightweight harness around.

einfach supper.

Not bad, came quick. Works fine. Very light weight. The gear rings are only cloth. Not plastic covered like some trad Harnesses.
