Since buying these AirStreamz XLs a few days ago, I've done two 32-mile bike rides in city conditions with earbuds in. One playing jazz and the other playing a recording of a podcast (voices only). My experience of both types of sound was very good. Compared to no wind protection, the AirStreamz cut down on wind noise by about 80% up to about 25mph. I was able to hear the music and spoken voices very clearly, while also still being able to hear sound around me. These fuzzy little things work really well!

It's important that your helmet chin strap is snug and that you wear sport glasses OVER, not under, the pads. This keeps the pads snugly against your head, which eliminates wind rushing between the pad and your head causing more wind noise. The effectiveness of these things drops as speed increases. Over 25mph wind noise becomes more noticeable and they're not very effective on fast downhills. However, the vast majority of riders don't ride fast enough for this to be a problem. Given that electronic noise cancellation solutions cost 5-10 times what AirStreamz cost, their effectiveness for their cost makes them an outstanding choice.

Work well. Winter was not the best time to order, finally warm enough for a ride. They reduced the wind noise enough that I was able to leave my hearing aids turned on and the noise was very tolerable. Without them eave at low speed the wind noise drowned out everything. The instructions said to put the earpieces of the glasses outside of the wind reducers, but my frames would not allow that, but the wire frames are small enough they did not disturb the seal. Will order another set for my other helmet.

When I ordered these, I was pretty skeptical on how they would perform. Having now used them a few times, I can report that the wind noise reduction is pretty significant. You will need to make sure that the straps in front of your ears are tight enough to keep the screen in contact with your sideburns to effectively shield your ears, but once that is done, they are surprising effective. On my first use, my straps had loosened some over time so they weren’t tight enough to be effective and I had to tighten up the front straps to experience the benefits. I ride with a cycling gps that provides audio notifications on my interim performance, and without a Bluetooth earpiece, the notices were tricky to hear. Using an earpiece even when you go with an undersized ear bud in an attempt to not block your ambient hearing is questionable from a safety standpoint, but these made it where I could hear the device as well as traffic approaching from the rear about ten times better. That is a wise accessory no matter what. Too soon for me to give a 5 star review as I live in a warm climate and wonder if they will add heat and sweat complications, but so far I am very pleased. Safety will override being hot anyway, so I don’t plan to remove them except to clean them.

I am on my second pair of Cat-Ears. My first pair were shorter, and "fluffy"...er. The really did look like bad Elvis sideburns, but they worked so well at eliminating wind noise that I wore them anyway. After 2 years of daily 30 mile commutes though, they were a bit...uh...rank. That is to say that I sufficiently soiled them with my sweat and funk that it was time to get a new pair. These new ones are longer, and less furry than the first pair. But they work just as well, if not a bit better, and are somewhat more streamlined looking. So, in short, they work.

I got the XL AirStreamz because I hope to get hearing aids soon and the description says these are good for use with hearing aids. They are super easy to install and clean when you need to. However they don’t block out the wind noise completely but it does reduce it drastically...or maybe I just don’t have my helmet straps tight enough to my head. Overall a great product will come in handy for my Bike MS event in October

Such a cool idea and it makes sense but, honestly they don't make any perceivable difference. If they do "reduce" noise, I can't tell. I have a Giro helmet with standard straps and it is fit correctly. The cat-ears are sitting where they are supposed to. My average speeds are between 14 and 17 mph. Maybe my conditions and set up are not ideal for this product.

At last....after going through many pairs of Bluetooth ear buds trying to find an aerodynamic pair to reduce wind noise, this solution works. I now have many ear buds that I can listen to at speeds on the bike. Just got back from cycling in the mountains of Colorado where the downhill speeds can really beat your ears up. No problem with these. I anticipate warmer ears in the winter as well since they divert the wind around your ear. I've ordered 5 more pair for my cycling buds.

These work ok, but the difference in noise isn't quite as significant as I would have liked, especially for what they cost. Plus, they're hot in the summer making them a three-season accessory for me, and they make you look like you have some wild sideburns. If I was to buy them again, I wouldn't pay more than half of what Car-Ears charges.

I can hear my music clearly through the headphones even when screaming down a big hill. I also arrive to work and at home without that ringing in my ears after many minutes of wind buffering. Great product, so simple, yet extremely effective.
