I have a pickup truck with Yakima racks. I carry 2 kayaks on the racks (a Necky Manitou 14 and Old Town Cayuga 146). Before I got these, I slit a couple pool noodles and wrapped duct tape round them. Worked fine, but my wife was embarrassed about me driving around the neighborhood with pool noodles duct taped to my truck, so I got these. They do the same thing as duct taped pool noodles, but are much prettier and easy to put on and take off.

These are great roof rack pads. I have the Malone racks that are square & these fit perfect. Nice dense foam to protect your kayak from the bar. I put 2, 18" pads side by side for a snug fit on each bar.
In past reviews they said the sleeve faded, I live in Fla. and so far so good. The racks and the pads are a nice combo for kayaks.

This product does the trick but has faded terribly in the first 3 months of use. If you took them off everytime they were not being used I assume they wouldn't fade but that is not very easy or quick to do. Also, the way they elastic cords work on the side is a little weird. You have to untie the knot and retie it to make sure they are secured down.

I used this in combination with my Yakima jlow so I could put two kayaks on my Acadia. It fit perfect and my only complaint is the fading. The pads are already dull grey after a couple of weeks on my crossbars. I even put aerospace protectant on it hoping it would act as uv protection. Didn't work and now I got old looking pads. The pads also move around too much on factory bars and more than one velcro strap would have been helpful to prevent this. It is doing it's job of protecting my crossbars but you might want to take these off your roof when not in use otherwise look for a better product.

Malone's auto racks are already the best deal on the market for a made-in-USA set of crossbars, but these pads are really nice - spanking nice!

Since I purchased the 58" bars for my '11 Rogue (saving more than 100 percent vs OEM crossbars), and the space between the roof rails is 36", I purchased two sets of the 18" rack pads to provide rail-to-rail cushioning on my rack. Each pad has a shock cord on each end and a velcro strap in the middle. A set includes two pads.

The only beefs I have with the product are the large company name printing on the nylon cover and the knotting of the elastic cord loop at the end of each pad. I fixed these problems by un-knotting, then re-inserting the ends into the press knob after looping the cord around the rack; this provides each pad secure endpoints of attachment.

The printing problem? Sorry Malone, but i faced the printing aft on the forward pads and forward on the aft pads - so no one sees the printing.

I also wish these came in different colors, but at a low price-point and one-year warranty, I'm not complaining.

These pads are fabulous accessories for your Malone rack! 5 stars, baby!

Perfect very very nice

These pads are well made and have not suffered practically no damage after about a year of use (I had ordered two other sets a year earlier). Their main use has been to support kayaks while these are not in use/storage. I highly recommend them.

Excellent ! Works graet with factory roof racks !
