I was looking forward to getting a "quality" stopwatch for my workouts with my son. I needed to replace my old one with a screen that died. From the minute I opened the package it didn't work. It came with a battery so figured the battery could've been old and needed to be replaced - no big deal. I replaced the battery, then replaced the battery, then replaced the battery, then replaced the battery, then replaced the battery, then replaced the battery. The screen would never come on. I would check the battery with a meter before and then check afterwards and the battery would show a significant decrease in its voltage. I spent more in batteries trying to get it to work than I actually paid for it because I had thrown out the packaging to return it. So now I have to purchase a real "quality" stopwatch now.

Ultrak 410 Simple Event Timer Stopwatch With Silent Operation
It's hard to find a stopwatch with silent operation and I thought I had hit gold when I found this one. Unfortunately, in less than six months of use, one of the buttons has broken off of BOTH stopwatches I purchased, hence the poor review.

I purchased one of these stopwatches when I first started graduate school in January 2008. It has been a trusty companion since then. I trained as a psychologist so I used the stopwatch for psychological assessment. I love that it is super quite in it's operation, and also very simple. A few weeks ago, the top right hand button fell off. Since I have loved this stopwatch and have had it for nearly 10 years (hard to believe!) it was well worth purchasing the same model to replace it. Would definitely recommend this stopwatch if you want high quality and quiet operation.

Completely silent operation. No beeps. No alarms. No chirps. The only drawback is I had to reopen the back battery compartment with a coin to reset the battery - that may have bounced out of contact in shipping. Otherwise all good.

The info mentions it IS = SILENT ! - the 2 main buttons ( for use as a simple stop-watch = which I use) = START / STOP & RESET. The buttons are not 'loud' - but the START/ STOP is definitely not 'silent', as I had hoped ( especially after reading the reviews & description) .

I got this stopwatch mainly for its silent operation as well as its ease (no extra functions and stuff). I use it for psychological testing that requires a silent stopwatch. It does the job great-- excellent timing, a nice hand-sized thing with big clear numbers, no extra functions to hamper trying to accurately time answers.

My complaints would have to be that you have to push a little harder than I expected to make the time start/stop, and also that there is a plastic "click" noise when you start and stop, so technically it's not "silent." In other words, the people can tell you're timing them, it's not absolutely quiet because you have to push hard enough to hear the click to start and stop it.

Other than that, though, it's great. I usually use the rope part and safety pin it to my shirttail so it stays in my lap during testing.

If you are looking for a simple stopwatch, this is it. There are two buttons on it: "stop/start" and "reset". The numbers are huge, so if you are looking at the timer from far away, you will be able to see it easily.

I use this in guided reading groups, and the nice thing about it is that the lanyard is long enough for it to sit in my lap,and the numbers are large enough that I can see it easily while I am teaching. If you are are teacher, you know that it is not useful to let kids keep track of timing when teaching because they will be so focused on when they are done that they can't concentrate. Therefore, this is a useful feature for someone like me.

The only thing that disappointed me, and I should have known this but not being stopwatch savvy, I didn't, I thought that "timer" meant that it would have a timer that you could set and have beep. If you are looking for this feature, you should probably look elsewhere. Otherwise, great product!

The product came with a dead battery. That wasn’t too bad because I had some 3V lithium batteries lying around.

The problem with the stopwatch is that there’s a click when you start timing. It’s not an electronic beep, but it’s an audible click. I would not say it is ideal for psychological assessments/testing someone who is not supposed to know they’re being timed. Psychological assessments are supposed to be done in a silent room, so the examinee would definitely hear the click.

Simple! as was required!

I use this for timing while I do neuropsychological testing and I like how its silent and easy to use. It fits nicely in the palm and is comparable to some other much more expensive timers. The only thing I wish was different was the placement of the 2 buttons as it's sometimes possible to accidentally hit one when you dont mean to.

Difficult to turn of the alarm on the watch the instruction are miniscule and really not great.
Consider it a cheap disposal stop watch. After a few months the buttons tended to stick. Withstood a lot of dropping and still worked.
