As advertised, four collapsible water jugs. I'm a fan of camping and survival prepping, so I'm always looking for low-space items that can be deployed in a hurry. I already had collapsible canteens of a similar design, so I thought I'd give these a try.
I’ve been using these types of water pouches for a long time because of their versatility and they rarely let me down. These particular bags are right there along with the much more expensive brand-name ones I’ve bought in the past. They key to finding good bags is to make sure that the plastic/pvc is not the really thin kind, and that the seams are welded properly. These bags hit the mark on both of those. The seam-welds are robust and the carrying handles are a nice touch. I wouldn’t want to use the handles for long-term storage or carrying over long distances because it will stress the rest of the bag, but for quick periods, they’re comfortable enough. As someone mentioned, the lids are a little tricky because of the locking mechanism, but you figure it out. A few ways you can use these is as reusable and drinkable ice-packs in the ice-chest, as emergency water-storage, as trail water-caches, or as an easy way to bring drinking water to a picnic or park birthday party. They’re really great.
Annnnd hurricane season is early this year. Stocking up for the season, these are a good price for the features. they pack flat for out of the way storage, have a comfortable handle, and a reasonable capacity for volume vs. carry weight. If these last the season I'll grab another set or two, as we always end up sharing out some supplies with the unprepared.
We took these to Yosemite and filled these bags with water with some expansion room to freeze. They are great in the cooler to keep things cold and for drinking as they melt. Bring some powder flavoring and you got punch or lemonade for the kiddos. Anyway, these are leak proof but the cap is slightly finicky. It's much like a those portable gasoline container caps. You squeeze to release the lock while turning. If you initially tighten more than the first or second click, it becomes a little more difficult to loosen. I have a Nalgene one that has a wider mouth and a cap ring to keep the cap attached to the unit itself so it doesn't magically "disappear." This cap might easily get lost if you don't immediately replace the cap after use. The pouch does expand at the bottom which helps it sit upright when filled. The handle is also nice as it lets you hold a full pouch with all your fingers however it is quite small and may not fit all sized hands. It's comfortable for me but tight for my husband.
I purchased the 5L AMbs Collapsible Portable Water Tank Containers for use while camping as well well as to have a way of storing water during an emergency. These containers seem to be very well made. The seams are all water tight and strong. They did not pull apart during my testing. The way they stand upright is a big plus for use in a cooler and when standing on a picnic table. I have had no problems with discoloration. I have transported water, lemonade, and tea in them and they were fairly easy to clean. It would have been nice to have a larger opening but it has not been a real issue. To dry I use an old coat hanger pushed in side to hold the sides apart. As some others have said, the handles, while comfortable, are a little small. All in all these are a good buy.
One of the things I was taught in my disaster preparedness class, was the importance of water. You can survival for quite some time without eating, even though you will be quite grumpy. However, without water, your life expectancy is three days. These fold up water container are quite handy as you can store them just about anywhere, and when you think some bad is coming your way, fill them up. Its better that trying to go to the market and find there is no water, or to scrounge around to find something to put water into. I will leave up to the one that has use them to tell you how good or bad they are. Mine are in to go area.
Great for packing fresh water for trips, and double as ice packs! They're being used now for water reserves in case of an emergency.AMbs Collapsible Water Tank Container 4 Pack 5L BPA Free Plastic Water Carrier Portable Water Tank Lightweight Space-Saving Outdoor Folding Water Bag for Sport Hiking Camping Riding Mountaineer-Clear
They where awesome to take camping! I use two for water and the other two for the adults only drink mixes. I love that they don’t leak and the bags are thick plastic! I will be buying more since I threw out the ones that had the alcohol and juice in them. You can’t wash them.
These are great and don’t take up much space.
