I fish streams and river headwaters. I mostly nymph the "old fashioned way", using a strike indicator. Usually trees, brush and foliage prevent any sort of back cast. Ninety percent of the time I'm roll casting. I like a long rod to pull more line off the water for a longer roll cast and it helps to mend the line.

Used to be, if you bought a 4-weight pole, put on a 4-weight line, it worked.... newer poles, not so much. With a dry fly, and a full back cast, a double-taper 4-wt works fine. A lighter line mends easily and allows more dead-drift time over the target. But the 4-wt lacked the momentum to pull the strike indicator off the water on a roll cast. On the advice of a guide, I tried a 6-wt, but it over powered the rod. I found that a weight-forward, 5-wt was my best choice.

Next time I'm building a rod, I will add a hook holder to the Redington. Until then I just taped a bobby pin to it.

My rotator cuff is a lot happier to have retired my six weight.

Great double handed fly rod.

Received really fast after ordering. Unpacked and came out flawless . Lightweight and I can’t wait to get on the water and fight that big brown!

11 foot 3 wt. is light weight with a soft tip for easily throwing long leaders and detecting strikes. Built quality is quite good, especially for the price.

Amazing rod! Only down side is no hook holder at the top of the cork.. other then that one of the best rods I've ever owned. I would highly recommend getting it to anyone!!
