PENN has added some new additions to the Squall family of reels this year. A new Level Wind and a new 2 Speed Lever Drag reel round out the existing line-up of Star and Single Speed Lever Drag reels. With a selection of 21 SKU's, there's now a Squall reel to suit every angler.
I tried to keep an open mind about the China thing. It's a PENN right? After using the reel about ten times, it started to make loud CLICKING noises and the level wind stopped working. It's a PENN right? So now my new reel is on it's way back to Philadelphia, at my expense. P.S. I have a PENN Squidder that is 50+ years old. Never let me down. Probably put some new drag washers in and keep using it.
Bought 2 of these on recommendations from friend for rowboat trolling lead core on deep water reservoirs for big Browns.
This is a heavy reel, although it was so much fun to use as a baitcaster, which is not really meant to but it casted so well and so far I will do it again, great strength to fight fish.
I really like the reel however the gold tension knob keeps falling off. I have been lucky so far twice I have picked it up on the gunnel.
I have 3 squalls in different sizes it’s my go to reel for saltwater and charters
used once no problems caught several fish
Awesome reel. I like it so much I bought 3 Squall 30LW's
