The Merino Mens Pants With Fly are a high performance base layer for ultimate warmth and comfort. Made with Merino wool, these pants are breathable and wick away moisture from the skin, making them perfect for an active lifestyle in winter.
These kept me warm. I spent a weekend of cold & windy weather in upper Michigan. No complaints. They also performed well in the odor control department...
It's only 80% wool at best, even though it has a bunch of all wool tags and it doesn't insulate like an all wool garment does or should. I have many wool garments and this one is misleading.
I wear merino wool as a runner. While I already have some I bought these for on of my children who frequently works outside in a cold climate. They work for both situations!
not cheap, but the European level of quality is refreshingly good (esp after the Chinese managed to destroy our expectations of getting a product that is not horribly defective and disposable) excellent value, fit is GREAT, very comfortable and does the job!
I'm a size 6 female and the small are a great fit. Wore them skiing last week and never got cold. They are very comfortable, sometimes wear them to bed.
Great warmth for the price paid. I wear them under jeans to keep warm whilst standing out for 8-10 hours watching motorsports. Found them to be perfect for helping keep windy spring time chills at bay. They do look thin when your putting them on and you can see light through them. But merino wool content does mean you don't require as bulky a garment to create that all important heating trapping layer against your skin. I'd buy another pair when the time comes.
There was no advice on the site about polyester being used in the fabric. I hate plastic and I am trying to avoid wearing toxic polyester fibres next to the skin. They all end up washing out into the waters and ultimately the sea.
Perfect fit, perfectly comfortable and warm and only ever noticed how sweaty I actually was after taking off my jacket in the sun and finding that I was steaming. Dries very quickly with sweat and moisture beading up on the surface. For skiing I found it useful to have a small microfibre towel in my bag to dab myself down with when taking a break at a bar but generally 10-20 minutes sitting in the sun having a drink and this will dry out completely.
Got this for watchinh footy over the winter....
Been canoeing for hours in the pouring rain, its 4c in a remote area of Canada. I am alright the base layers are keeping me snug and comfy. The Goretex is working wonders and the warm fleece is doing its job. Get back to camp on an island, strip off all my wet stuff make for a long late siesta in my warm sleeping bag.
Bought a pair of these as part of a broader set of clothing for a trip to Finland where temperatures were down to -15C for prolonged periods (it was within the Arctic Circle, to be fair). It's amazing that such a thin layer can have this big an impact on the amount of heat you retain on your lower half - I noticed a genuinely huge difference when out walking when I didn't wear these vs when I did, absolutely worth the money.
I am reasonably pleased with these because they are considerably cheaper and appears to be of better quality than the delicate ones I bought locally in NZ (the latter being much thinner and tears easily). Keeps warm too and did not shrink even after machine wash and gentle tumble dry. Am thinking of buying more of these and will decide after wearing them for a few weeks to see how they perform.
Expected better quality for the price. Material seems thin and patchy. Still helps to keep warm.
Great stuff guess that's why sheep use it all year round! Lol
This was bought to replace a similar ome bought 4 years ago. That one kept me warn on a frozen artic lake while watching northern lights. Keeps me equally warm in London weather without feeling uncomfortable in the underground.
Very nice fit! Although just tried on! Couldn't try on slopes yet! Very soft material! Size guide was accurate!
A little on the small side but quite comfortable. Could do with being a little thicker.
I have tried lots of base layers over the years and these are by far the best. Worn under a pair of tracksuit bottoms when coaching in driving wind and rain in winter and they are absolutely bulletproof! Stood still or active in winter they are an absolute must
Warm and cosy and comfortable. Will buy some more next year
The top and bottoms are very warm and well made, I work on a jetty in all weather's and they keep me warm and comfortable.
