After cycling for several years and blowing through many brands of cycling shorts, I found the ones I really like. I'm 62, 5'8" and weigh 194 with 19% bf. I am between a lg and xl. I ordered the large and they are snug. I mention this as I am stocky and these shorts are absolutely perfect for me. I stick in the seat and that has made the entire ride easier. I had no idea that the correct shorts mattered that much. I do not know if these will work for you, but for me, yes, they did.
The shorts fit according to the size listed. Decide if you like them tight or a little looser.
The padding seemed light until I rode, they were surprisingly comfortable.
the length hits me about 1" above the knee. (31" inseam)
They do not creep up and hug the leg nicely.
Your mileage may vary.

I liked these over the Nike and other quality brands (the really big names). I found myself washing these to wear out the next day rather than use a different short. I liked them so well that I bought 2 more pairs. Nice padding but not too much. Certainly not too thin. I am still about 25 pounds too fluffy and only ride about a dozen miles at a time. Still takes me well more than an hour to cover that distance so I can attest that the padding holds up to extended use...

I got 2 pairs of these @ $38 ish instead of the $50 they normally want - I'm cycling indoors in my garage on a trainer - so I didnt think I needed $100 shorts after I wore through my previous pearls;

The seat padding on both sets is not contoured at all - it is like wearing an adult diaper;

I got M based upon my waist size and they are a little tight across my thighs (6' 190 lbs) but with the state of the 'pre shaped and curved' padding (I call BS) - I can't imagine what L would have been like .. The mildly tight fit is why I ordered L in the Sponeeds that are replacing them.

I'll keep them as indoor backups maybe for the rowing machine - no way am I going outside looking like I'm wearing a diaper - these are nothing like the previous Pearl Izumi shorts that they replace.

Is there a way to know if they are counterfeit ? I've always thought Pearl were a good brand, and these are just rubbish.

Worst pair of PI's I've ever purchased. Compared to all other Quest's I've owned the chamois on these is sooooo wide, you are straddling it. I imagine this is what it would feel like to wear adult diapers! It's so wide in fact that when I walk it folds in on itself. How this got through the PI design folks I do not know.

I buy the PRO series for riding and get these entry Quest ones for Spin. This "Splice" version have the unique color patch which makes them stand out so it's too bad but they are being returned!

I cycle to and from work every day and have used these shorts now for quite some time. They fit perfect (size Small) and are very comfortable. Washing is no problem and they dry quickly. In other words, they offer everything you'd expect from cycling shorts. And all that at a very good price.

These cycling shorts run somewhat small, but not as small as other Pearl Izumi shorts I have had. Other than that, the quality seems fine, they are comfortable and supportive. Pearl iZUMi Men's Escape Quest Splice Shorts, Black/Screaming Yellow, X-Large

Pretty good comfort level and very thick. I like the extra little bit of visibility created from the stripe on the side (every little bit counts). A little expensive. I got bib-shorts for a little cheaper that are just as comfortable but I’ll have to wait and see if they hold up like these. Overall very pleased with this product.

First of all, I'm female, but often buy men's cycling shorts. I bought these (for the stripes) in L and the women's version in XL as well. Both fit perfectly and the chamois is excellent! I've totally quit using chamois cream since I've started wearing these and I cycle 30+ miles 3 times a week. I will definitely buy again!!!

I'm 6'1'' tall and weight 160 lbs. I ordered the medium size shorts and they fit perfectly!
