This jacket has a lot going for it. It's lightweight, fits reasonably well (but see below), and provides a good measure of warmth. Keep in mind that this is a *midweight* jacket, not an Arctic parka. During winter you'll need an under layer (sweater, fleece, sweatshirt) to be comfortable -- a short sleeve T-shirt by itself won't suffice. I wore this jacket for several days in mid-January at Niagara Falls, Canada (temps 20 to 35 F and windy). At times I wished for a more effective head covering, but not once did I wish I'd brought a heavier coat. |
Excellent jacket for those cold days. The only drawback is that its not packable, meaning it can not be packed away as a small pillow sized piece of gear. It is good for everyday fall / winter use, but not practical for hiking. It is comfortable and does have a drawstring around the hem, to trap the air / prevent heat from escaping. |
Size: RUNS SMALL so SIZE UP! |
I got this jacket because I needed something that was warmer than my softshell but cooler than my wool coat and I think this is going to fit the bill perfectly. It's lightweight and comfortable but warm, looks good, and definitely keeps me warm. |
Nice light weight-comfortable- good looking. Wanted an early morning jacket for yard work in mild winter conditions. In order to get sleeves long enough (business shirts sleeves are 35/36) I ordered the large. It fits the arms and the waste length but is too bulky (6’3” -185lb). Problems with right side pocket zipper-it gets stuck almost every use, and the jacket tears easily. |
Wore it for the first time a few days ago as it ended up in the 20s...had to stand outside for about 2 hours to watch a soccer game. I wore an UA hoodie and this jacket and I was as warm as could be. Actually saw it first at a big box store for a good price...checked Amazon and it was $20 cheaper. Comfortable, light, not puffy, and warm...couldn't ask for more in a jacket. |
Bought of pair of these for my wife and I last year. This one is for my 13yo son. Fits fine. He doesn't care about color, so we got him this blue so we could easily tell our coats apar. I love these coats because they are SO light and plenty warm. The omni-heat lining works best if you let the heat build up for a minute or two before heading out into the cold. It reflects the heat back to you body, so its most effective when there is some built-up heat to work with. I love the Columbia brand, and this coat is fantastic. Good tech! |
I’m returning this, but only because I bought two different Columbia jackets for him to try, and he happened to like the McKay better. |
Jacket design is nice but it just keeps losing feathers through the inner and outer shell. At first It was just a little but it has not stopped. Every shirt I wear with it gets covered in feathers as well as anything else you come in contact with. Unfortunately I did not notice the return date limit otherwise I would have sent it back. |
The jacket is very well made and pretty warm. Possibly warmer than a similar items from LL Bean, more expensive and not as warm. It must be the silver lining that makes it warmer. |
Great jacket: warm & stylish!! Great to wear if you don't want a bulky winter jacket. Very happy with this purchase!! |
Great light weight jacket for winter, spring or fall. Folds up easily for travel. |
