Comprising 3 layers the lightweight ankle StormSock features a thin un-cushioned lining that wicks moisture away from your feet. Primarily knit from Merino Wool, known for its anti-bacterial, anti-odour and moisture management properties, the sock will keep your feet warm, dry and comfortable. The outer layer sock, made from nylon, protects the Hydrotech waterproof breathable membrane against abrasion from the boot. Lycra knit through every course gives the sock Bridgedale’s performance fit and together with the flat toe seam and elastic arch support ensure the sock remains in place and doesn’t cause any hotspots. The stretch PU membrane and clever matrix lamination process that bonds the three layers of Bridgedale’s Stormsock together ensure they have class leading stretch built right in, wear after wear. Designed to fit just a few cm’s above the ankle bone these socks feel light and unrestrictive and prevent heat building up in the lower legs, perfect for trail running or walking on wet ground sodden ground in dryer weather conditions. Due to their length, in extended wet weather, it can prove difficult to prevent water ingress, if your after walking in the rain try our boot or knee length styles.
I ran with these on snowy days, rainy mornings, you name it - and I stomped around in all kinds of puddles to see if they are truly waterproof. They are!! Very much worth the price.
I have used a few pairs from a more expensive brand for a few years but always felt disappointed after a few months as they would leak slightly after being wet for a few hours. These are brilliant. I have been using them for mountain biking over the past winter months, and despite being totally submerged several times have remained dry for the entire ride.
