Edit: Reduced to 1 star due to the effort required to "fix" the stands" and seeing how terrible their engineering was of this. With this fix the stand is now solid and sturdy. If you want to make the same fix, do the following: |
The column on this thing is hollow. THAT right off the bat is problematic. It is screwed into a somewhat hard, not all that rigid, plastic base. When you rest into place the dumbbells, the thing sways ever so slightly forwards and backwards. I had have this column and the foldable, smaller in appearance, all metal stand. I assure you that the foldable version is rigid, solid, and does not budge. It is undoubtedly the better buy. |
The plastic base is garbage. It makes the whole stand wobble. Mine arrived cracked too. The original stands were all metal, no wobble. Seriously disappointing. This company is introducing all sorts of plastic parts. Weak move |
Easy assembly and pretty much required for the PowerBlock dumbbells (i purchased the 90lb set on a lightning deal). Base is plastic but the rest is metal -- why??? We'll see how well it holds up. So far, so good. Great height for me (5'7"). I wish Amazon sold the more heavier duty model... I would have bought that one instead. |
This is cool to hold the Powerblocks but its a little low (I'm 5'11'') and not the sturdiest for heavy weights (I have the 70lb set). It is a nice addition to the home gym and does what it needs to for the power blocks. |
SO I bought my Powerblocks about 5 years ago. I built a stand for them out of 2x4s because they were free scrap from work. The stand was super sturdy and worked perfect. Fast forward to now. I just moved and left my heavy/sturdy stand behind and purchased the Powerblock stand. I just put it together and I seriously can't believe this is what "Made In America" is now. It's about 30x the price it should be. The base is just cheap flimsy plastic, the stand is two 1/16" pieces of aluminum. The top part that the dumbbells sit on is the only good part with thick metal. I put my two 90lb Powerblocks on it and the whole thing sways for 15 seconds. Seriously. I timed it. Anytime you change a weight it wobbles around for 15 seconds. . . The only thing holding it all together are the screws through the cheap plastic... I don't see this lasting long/ending well. Total disappointment cause I love my Powerblocks and where they've gotten me. |
This stand provides the perfect height for my Powerblock dumbbells. The middle and top sections are made of steel. The bottom is some plastic/abs material. Mine came missing 1 screw, which customer service was able to send me exactly 1 screw :). Most products would contain an extra screw/bolts/nuts but not here. It's rather simple to put together and looks sleek with my Powerblock dumbbells. The only problem with this product is the adhesive backing, which may need replacing in the future. Also, only the large version has the holes in the middle for the metal weight. The smaller version does not have them. Overall, it's a nice stand, not perfect, but it is a great match for the Powerblock dumbbells. |
