I purchased this knife as a low cost option for my edc bag. I was impressed that, for the cost, it featured a full tang blade, G10 style (not sure it's actual G10) scales, stonewash finish, and adequate enough steel. However, after taking this blade with me on a camping trip I used it to cut up a dead dogwood tree for kindling. After 5 or so hacks the blade basically crumbled. After doing some research I saw where many others have had this problem as well. I contacted Taylor brands which is the parent company of Schrade and old timer knives concerning my problem. They said they would replace the knife but I had to pay a replacement fee for their knife, which broke very easily under light use. At this point I avoid schrade knives altogether. If you are looking at this knife I highly suggest spending an extra $30 on an Ontario knives Rat 3 which is what I have now and used quite a bit. The rat 3 is a far better knife.

i bought this product a LOOOONG time ago. when it first came out. within the first day my tip broke off just like outhers have shown in their photos. funny thing is... if you watch the video provided on the page.. I was doing exactly what he was doing with the knife when this happened. Splitting tender. not even branch/logs thickness. as I drove the blade into the stick with a palm sized log, I heard a crack and crunch. and yep the tip was gone. about 1/2 of an inch off the tip of the blade was broken off. shattered rather. long story short the knife is really cool. feels good in your hands and looks nice and mean, BUT if your looing for a functioning knife then go with gerber, CRKT, or crap, even the smith and Wesson knives I have are beastly when compared to this knife. most are going to be better than a knife that literally snaps. if you want a pretty and tactiCOOL knife then look no further. If you want reliability then look elsewhere

was cutting zip ties when this happened, has a crack also further down the blade

I just received this knife today and have only used it for five minutes of food prep. I like the design. It fits nicely in my medium- sized hand. The jimping is excellent and falls perfectly under the thumb. I especially like the stone-washed finish. The knife is a little trimmer than I expected, but I like it. I am usually not a fan of knives which have the spine protruding beyond the scales, but no problem on this knife.

The knife came sharp enough, but I see that the edge has two tiny chips. I assume it came from the factory that way, and I have no doubt they will sharpen out easily. If the chips came from the minimal use I have given to the knife, then this would have to be pretty sad steel. Time will tell.

Now the sheath. I bought this knife so that I could reverse the belt slot, thus allowing me to carry the sheath on my left to avoid interfering with my handgun, It was easy to make the change (probably too easy, since the screws were way loose). I will apply removable Loc-Tite to guarantee that the screws remain in place. The knife snaps securely into the sheath, but then manages to rattle. Perhaps I can heat the sheath to take some of the rattle out or maybe insert some type of liner.

Anyhow, this is a neat design. I'll use it hard and update later.

I recently picked up this knife. I was looking for an EDC (every day carry) in the fixed blade variety. I decided to get this particular knife for a few reasons. I am a fan of schrade's fixed blade knives, the kydex sheath, G10 handle scales, and of course the price! I own several fixed blade knives but I wanted a designated beater\utility knife for daily chores that may arise. This knife fits that role perfectly! I strongly suggest picking up this bad boy now. The only gripe I have is that when the knife is in the sheath it rattled a ton. That didn't effect the sheaths ability to retain the knife it was just annoying. I fixed this pretty easily, I put the sheath close to my gas stove and it readily became pliable and I tightened it right up. Initially I was frustrated by the sheath I contacted Taylor (schrade) brand's website and they immediately sent me a new sheath. Unfortunately I had the same rattle problem. I originally gave this knife 4\5 stars, but as I was typing this review it reminded me of how much I appreciate this knife.

Fits my hand perfect, very sharp out of box. Got an extra great price because box was damaged, but NOT a thing wrong with the knife! I love the kydex sheath, great for setting up for left hand carry or for horizontal carry, love it, love it! I really like the finish on the blade, won't give away your position and it seems to protect the steel, for how long, idk, but it looks cool for right now! The blade is a full 5/32 thick, in case you don't know, that's more then an 1/8 of an inch. When you buy a Schrade knife your getting a Great Quality knife, FULL tang construction, super sharp and the sheaths are the best. For the price you get these knives for, you can buy 2, 3 or more! Keep one in the house, garage and your BOB! Keep up the good quality Schrade and thanks Amazon for getting my knife to me in 2 days! :-)

I really loved this for EDC. It seemed like a good sturdy knife. It doesn't feel cheap in the hands, but also not "beefy". The only down side is that it was not very sharp when it got here. But no worries, I just sharpened it up just the way I like it. It seemed to be the best knife ever... then summer roles around and I took it outside for some fun. I was planning on taking this knife with me on the appalachian trail and wanted to test it out. Well, the tip broke off. So I sent it in and got a replacement. The second one fractured as well right through the middle of the blade.

This concerned me as they broke while doing simple tasks that were essential for the AT hike. I returned the second one and replaced it with an SCHF27 and have had no issues. However it is a bigger knife. For the AT hike I choose a Light My Fire Mora knife. For only $28 it was perfect. I have used it all summer and have had no issues. In short, the 14 seems to have problems with heavier use.

Originale Bewertung (damals 5 Sterne):

- kam in einer ordentlichen Schärfe "out of the box", Nachschleifen für's erste nicht nötig
- schnelle Lieferung

SCHRADE halten was sie versprechen.

Amazing knife, fits awesome in the hand and is super sharp out of the box (cut myself on the first day of owning it). The Sheath is a made out of kydex (hard plastic like material) which is strong and has multiple ways to mount on your belt .etc. Overall great product for the price.

Tough well made. Could not ask for a better knife. Kydex case retains knife without any issue. Both are very good quality.

Great knife - Great price. very comfortable, easy to sharpen. Holds its edge. nice sheath. Sheath could have a few more eyelets.

Verry good for the price. Tank you

Excellent quality edc knife.

Nice firm and good looking blade.

Very good knife

Excellent solid built, discreet knife, I carry it every day.
