  • Less than a year after purchase left a batch of kale chips in the dehydrator to wake up to smell of burning wires. At first, we thought the house was on fire. Turned out, something inside this machine was faulty. After getting rid of the ruined chips, I got in touch with customer service at Excalibur. They diagnosed a problem as a broken motor (suspiciously quickly, as though this happens all the time.) They then made me pay shipping for a replacement motor and sent one over to me instead of what usually happens under warranty-you mail the device to the makers and get a fixed device back. The motor came back. With instructions how to replace it. I have an engineering background, but the steps they describe make this a project too difficult for me. Simpler to get a new device. Beware!

Amazon will not allow you to return this product. I can understand why they would not want it back. You will want to return this product. If, by some miracle, this spectacular piece of garbage manages to make it to your delivery location in one piece you will still want to return it. You will be traumatized by this purchase. Holding this item in your hands and realizing that you chose to buy it will cause you to spiral into the deepest, darkest depths of self-doubt and despair. “How did I manage to be so completely bamboozled by the product ad?” “Why would Amazon, my previously trusted trading partner, mislead me so and take advantage of my good nature?” These are the kinds of questions you will ask yourself after purchasing this product. My only, sincere hope, is that the $250.00 Jeff Bezos took from me is enough for him to finally buy that really nice end-table that he’s had his eye on and that he buys that end-table and then stubs his pinky toe on it every day. The is my wife’s account. The opinions expressed in this review are not necessarily her’s, although; she didn’t have to cough-up the $250.00 either. This item is garbage, you will be disappointed.

Buyer beware that this item is non-returnable. ... which is kind of ridiculous since it was not noted anywhere as such.

Beware you are cooking in a toxic stew trying to be healthy! Sure, the shelves are bpa free, but the rest of the inside structure I found out isn't. There's studies of rats living in a bpa cage and they found bpa in them. It off gases. So if you are into health stuff like me, yes it works good, but super toxic. People recommend this one because they established themselves BEFORE the bpa awareness come out. Plastic inside?? Why??? This company obviously doesn't care about the health of their customer and they know better....

I absolutely love this food dehydrator! I has a much smaller one that couldn't hold much and it was frustrating to go to the effort to prep food to dry only to be able to do so little of it at a time, so I took the plunge and bought this Excalibur model and am so happy I made the change.

This dehydrator fits on my kitchen counter under the cabinets just fine and it has enough capacity to do a five pound bag of sliced potatoes plus several trays of other produce at the same time. My other dehydrator could manage about 3 pounds of sliced potatoes at best, so I love having more capacity.

I'm still fairly new to food dehydration so I refer to a book I bought for the proper way to prepare food items and for drying time and temperature, then I follow those directions and I'm having nothing but success so far. My other dehydrator had open plastic mesh trays that food items could fall through as they dried, but that isn't a concern thanks to the poly-screen tray inserts in this Excalibur.

Now I can shred potatoes and dry them in order to have hash browns on hand whenever we want them without having them slip through the screens as they dry. By the way, we rehydrated some to see what they were like and it's like having freshly shredded potatoes. So much more useful for what we want to do than canning! (Now I have a large All American Pressure Canner I no longer want)

I bought some non-stick liners to use when making fruit leather but haven't tried it yet. This dehydrator seems to get much better air flow through the trays than my other one did because vegetables are drying more quickly even though they're set at the same temperature they were in the other machine. It does produce some fan noise, but nothing that I find obnoxious. It's easy to operate, signals when the time is up, and the trays are super easy to clean up so I'm very happy with the purchase. I think small dehydrators are useful as a way to learn about dehydrating foods, but this is a model I'd recommend getting if you're serious about doing it.

Last September we purchased one of these "Excalibur 3926TB 9-Tray Electric Food Dehydrators" from Amazon. It lasted about six months and then the fan stopped turning. I admit that we use dehydrators all day long, almost every day; however, last September we also bought a "Costzon 630W Electric Food Dehydrator 10 Drying Trays Food Preserver Fruit Dehydro Commercial" from Amazon. The Costzon dehydrator is still working very well. The price of the Costzon dehydrator is less than half the cost of the Excalibur dehydrator, and it lasts much longer.

This dehydrater is quite sizeable, so you can put in lots of goodies to dry. It's well worth paying the extra because it works like a dream. It has a very good instruction book, with lots of tips. I've been drying lots of apples and pears. It' suggests drying live food below 50degrees C , in order to preserve the enzymes. So this is what I've been doing, they take about 7 -8 hours and it does a great job. This machine is made in the USA and the quality tells

I like the simplicity of this although it is a bit pricey. That being said the machine doesn't stop as I think it's supposed to when the timer runs out or make a noise, effectively making the timer useless. The clock goes down though and it seemed too much hastle to send back for the minor inconvenience of being around when times up. Lost a star here though.

Product arrived the following day after placing my order. I am new to dehydrating, so I am taking it slowly to start off. Just dehydrating fruits, but I am planing to make some onion bread in it next. Visually it looks good in the kitchen, about the same size as a microwave, noise wise, you know it's on but it's not horrendously noisy. About the level of a dishwasher.

I have only had this Dehydrator for about 10 days so far and I have used it almost every day and I love it, I couldn't be happier the results are fantastic. It has loads of room and the sheets are really easy to clean. My previously dehydrator was cheaper but didn't last, I wore it out, now with that one, one mango took 2.5 trays with this dehydrator I can get one mango on each tray. I also find it very useful for crisping up homemade biscuits.

Being a raw vegan I use the dehydrator all the time. It is the best one in the market in my humble opinion. It is simple and as valuable as gold.

Love this! Testride your choice of veggies/fruits, then decide on your own which food type & thickness. Other features I've yet to use, but am very pleased with purchase. Automatic turn off makes it easy. Favorites: bell peppers, beets, sweet potatoes & kiwis

Fantastic food tastes great full of flavour

Have bought this item before and very happy with it so we bought a second one. Unfortunately, this time one of the flexible mesh tray inserts was missing. There is no option for leaving feedback to the seller, hence hopefully this review will serve to pass the message on.

A lot of effort and time for a lot of money

i have had my dehydrator for 3 months and the product is now faulty with the temperature fluctuating.
i know this item has a 5 year warranty.
how do i claim the warranty on this item?

Brilliant , I'm still experimenting with different foods but I can't fault this dehydrator one of the best!

    Very good item, thank you.

Fantastic product and worth every penny

Had a more basic dehydrator and had my eye on upgrading to this for a long time. Definitely recommend.

Expensive but it's probably the best machine out there excellent results every time i would recommend it.
