This is the best coat of any sort I have ever purchased. And the price is worth every penny. The fabric is incredible and impossible to describe in words. I love this brand and know it from living in Europe for a while. But now I am happy to see they are making coats like this that are not only sporty but also serve for work clothing, and are affordable.
I can wear this coat daily, not only for rain but also in weather between 50 and 70 degrees. With a sweater, it can be worn in even colder weather of course.
If you are very tall or have long arms, order up in a size or check the sleeve length. I usually wear a US small petite and the small in this coat fits me if I cuff the sleeve once. There is room for a sweater underneath. I believe the xsmall would be fine as well with less room to layer. I am 5’2 and weigh 125.
I hope Amazon continues to offer more Helly Hansen. There is no comparison in quality to any other brand. Some of their coats are very pricey but this one is a great deal and comes with patches the repair it for future years.

While I do like the jacket, this is the only HH I’ve bought that has no liner in it. It’s the thin waterproof material and that’s it. Given the delicate nature of the material I am surprised. If you buy this you’ll need to be careful not to sit with it tucked under you while wearing it, and stretch the fabric around the butt.

Purchased as a gift for my wife. I already own other true waterproof jackets from HH and knew this wouldn't fail. A bit on the thinner side as are some of my other ones but very fashionable, true to size, and 100% waterproof. Wouldn't recommend for exercising or outside work. More for travel and fashion. Great design. Get some matching rain boots and this outfit would look dope.

It is a really pretty color, great fit, and can be a little dressy when I want it to be.

and that is all that matters

I love this jacket. I recommend.

I bought this for my sister’s birthday. From the feedback I’ve received, I am happy to report that she loves the coat and wears it constantly in this dreadful weather we are having. It’s definitely rainproof and can be layered underneath to keep warm in the biting winds. It also is a lovely smart looking coat which can be worn for all occasions from walking the dogs to popping into town to shop. My sister is a size 8 so I bought the small which fits well with or without layers underneath.

Lovely design and shape but felt too plasticky.

    HELLY HANSEN

My favourite rain coat so far. Love the colour

I hadn't expected the feel of this polyurethane coat, which is quite plasticky, but my goodness it's a practical garment. The coat itself is quite lightweight, but the PU Helox coating helps to both water and windproof it, making it really quite warm to wear. There is a breathable panel in the back, with a sort of cape section that fastens down with snap fastenings to help prevent it from becoming too hot and sweat in wear.

The design is stylish - it looks quite fashionable, and the contrast of the dark navy coat and it's copper snap fasteners, hole reinforcers, and little metal end caps on the drawstring around the hook is very striking looking. The only thing I wasn't quite so keen on is the large, white HH logo in the centre of the hood. Above all, however, this is also a supremely practical coat that's designed to keep the wearer from getting cold and wet in blowy and windy conditions.

All the joints are reinforced to prevent rain from leaking through, the cuffs can be tightened around the wrists by closing a pair of snap fasteners, at the neck there's a funnel section, and the hood tightens around the face via a drawstring. The pockets have wide flaps over the top that can be closed down with snap fasteners. Each pocket is covered with a flap that's a good bit wider than the opening, helping to keep contents away from rain.

I'm built on the bigger side at the bust, and this is a bit tight for me here - sometimes I can get away with it with coats, but to get a good fit in this area, I'd have needed to go up at least one size. I'm 5'5" and on me, this comes to a couple of inches above the knee. Supplied with a repair kit patch, should the PU surface become damaged. An unexpected bonus is that this coat is machine washable (at up to 40 degrees), I'd anticipated this potentially being surface wipeable only - but apparently machine washing is fine, although it's not safe for tumble drying or ironing.

I ordered this rain jacket as I am in need of a new one in preparation for the lovely British wet weather seasons this autumn/winter.
Unfortunately I was only able to order this item in a size medium for some reason, and I’m actually a UK Size 6/8 so I’d probably require an XS, S at a push ordinarily, but it was too good of an offer to miss.
Helly Hansen is an iconic brand in the UK, and are known for their well made products and practical designs.
This jacket is no different. It is the perfect rain jacket for the upcoming rainy months, and stylish as well as practical.
It is in a on trend dark blue/navy colour, and made from 100% polyamide material, which means it is kept waterproof.
The in built hood protects your head and hair from the rain fall.
I like the toggle adjusters at the waistband, which allows for a more fitted look if you wish.
Now obviously as previously mentioned this jacket is a little large on me, which is why I haven’t provided a photo with this review, but I will say that the toggle adjusters at the waist do help somewhat. Besides which, some people do prefer their jackets baggier to allow for thick jumpers underneath.
The length comes to mid thigh on me, and I’m 5ft 7in, so it’s a definite plus for covering your back area, which is something I always look for in a winter jacket and coat.
Pockets at the sides give enough space for storing your keys, phone, wallet, etc.. handy for when you are just wanting to travel light, and perhaps for even when you’re out dog walking and prefer not to carry a bag at all.
The zipper front with popper fastenings over give double protection, and looks so much more chic than a simple zipper fastening.
I will probably wear this to walk the dog in as the weather gets worse, as even though it’s baggy on me I will care more about being protected from the rain than how it fits, and it does do it’s job in that regard.

Helly Hansen, so the legend runs, was a Norwegian fisherman who started his line of weatherproof clothing which has since become as fashionable as it is practical, and this coat, as stylish as it is practical, perhaps indicates why the brand became such a success.

From the outset, functionality was paramount - weatherproofing is fundamental, and this is very evident in the materials. Originally created with a patented "Helox" fabric now utilising PU but feeling like very supple rubberised fabric, the polyamide material of this coat is smooth, supple, and extremely resistant to water. Often there is a compromise between functional clothing and fashionable clothing that subsequently result in something not particularly effective in either aspect, but that is certainly not the case here; with form, function and style all evident and effective in one piece of apparel.

It is, as one might expect, fully lined, and the outer pockets are also lined with waterproofing material... you really could steal soup with this coat! The hood has a drawstring to close it against the elements - the copper-coloured metal aglets on the cord ends are a nice flourish, and they match the bright coppery press-studs down the front of the coat, on the pockets and on the collar and cuffs.
With an adjustable waist and a rear vent to allow air circulation it is well-cut and well-styled, and despite its effective waterproofing is nevertheless significantly lighter in weight that one would expect.

I find it is a rare occurrence when stylish good looks are so well aligned with excellent functionality, and this raincoat excels in both aspects. Hats off to Captain Helly Hansen and his crew, I have no hesitation in recommending this quality raincoat - it's not exactly cheap, but you get what you pay for and that's top quality in this case.

This is a stunning jacket -I'm a size 12, 36 chest and it fits perfectly. The outer layer feels lovely - it's super soft yet is obviously completely waterproof. It feels a bit like a wet suit but is really thin so is very lightweight. The inner layer is polyester which is also soft and comfortable.

The craftsmanship is amazing - all the seams are really well done and I have no doubt it would be completely wind and rain proof. It has two outer pockets, also lined with waterproof material and has a breathable section around the shoulders to ensure you keep cool. The press stud fasteners are a lovely copper colour and the sleeves also have copper coloured casters to keep the rain out. I gave quite big wrists for a woman (I struggle with bracelets and watches as they are always too small) but I could fasten them easily without compromising comfort.

Rain coats can often be very unflattering for the figure - but that is not the case here - it's beautifully styled so as to be flattering and feminine whilst compromising nothing in terms of effectiveness. It's comfortable, light weight and looks lovely. This is clearly an excellently made coat and well worth every penny in my opinion.

Have heard of Helly Hansen for years but it's not really something where I felt I could justify the spend to try it out. So I was pleased to get this for review. The medium was a bit small on me (I am usually a large though - this was the only size on offer) especially across my larger chest so I'd warn you to maybe size up if you're busty. I was surprised that the material felt quite plasticky to me - wasn't sure if that was a bit cheaping out - however I'm quite happy with the look and feel of the coat on, it certainly kept me warm and dry. I appreciated all the little touches to close up the edges like the hood drawstrings and fasteners on the sleeves. Looks really classy on - way more stylish than I'd feared it might be. I appreciate that there's even a repair kit if the surface gets damaged. All over class.

This jacket is extremely waterproof to say the least, it’s also really good to see it professionally done and all the scenes and the stitching is sealed perfectly well as well. On its first outing in a really good downpour it hasn’t leaked a bit and the outfit underneath the coat was still perfectly dry. The coat allows you to wear reasonably baggy clothes underneath without the need to think about what you’re wearing before you put the coat on. Very nice first: definitely on trend and will certainly stand the test of time as it has a very classic look to it too.
