I deducted a star because the pockets on the belt strap aren't easy for me to get to when the pack is on and I definitely can't grab a water bottle while it's on. That said, I really like the pack. Easy to access bottom pocket means not having to empty it out on the ground to find something. I used it on a 5 day hut-to-hut hike in the Dolomites and it was great!
It was a gift to my sister. She knew that this product is good quality. I’m happy with it.
My wife loves this. We love to hike and camp and her pack was getting beat. Her old pack, admittedly, was not as expensive, but this is such a nie pack it is worth the difference.
First, the zippers and pockets are all solid, well placed and designed. Her old pack had nowhere near as many ways to carry things.
The zippered hip pockets are a great idea and she did not have those on her old pack either. They wrap around the hip and sit on the belt. When you strap in, they are super easy access to anything you may need quickly. Not good for water bottles or large items, but candy, gum, matches, knife, etc.
It is hard to explain, but the pack adjusts as you put it on, allowing the area that fastens to the hip and over the arms to be adjusted to fit like a glove rather than having the entire weight of the pack sit on the shoulders and the belt ending up wherever it ends up like the old pack.
Two side pockets stretch out from the side to hold water or other items for fast access and are on each side of the pack. They are good size, so would hold food, canteens, cameras, etc.. Those things you want to get to easily and quickly without having to take off the pack and open it but are too big for the hip pockets.
The lower pocket holds a rain cover, which we have not tried yet, but I can attest to its usefulness from the last time we got caught out in a heavy rain half way through a 20 mile hike.
The trekking pole attachments are a great idea, although we don't have any. If we do pick some up, this will make it easy to carry them when they are not needed.
The pack is massive. We loaded it with a normal trip's worth of stuff that would have barely fit in the old pack and had room to spare.
The comfort is astounding. I tried it and it is too small, but the adjustments were able to compensate quite a bit. The padding and design hug the body and feel more like you are wearing a piece of clothing than a pack, except it weighs 45 pounds full. LOL. The pack is incredibly light, but it holds so much that may not make a difference if you tend to pack everything you can imagine like she does.
There is a sleeping bag compartment, but we need to buy her a smaller sleeping bag if it is going to fit.
We also are behind the times on carrying a reservoir, but it has everything to allow you to carry and have it available for use while hiking.
Everywhere you look you find new pockets and well thought out design.
The price is high based on what I would expect based on the old pack, but now that we have it, I would gladly pay it for this pack versus any other.
I have not seen a better backpack. Well constructed, with good quality material and zippers. This backpack has room for everything I could think off: cell phone, tablet, keys, water bottle, hydration, rain cover, sleeping bag, etc.
The best feature is the train flex suspension, which makes it so comfortable to wear for prolonged periods. Breathable wire mesh makes it snug and soothing. Side hip pockets make things like cell phone, wallet, keys, etc. easily accessible.
This bag is a little big for day to day use but excellent for hiking, trekking, etc. And very good overnighter.
It is very spacious and convenient for regular travel and hikes.
