I ordered this bag for my husband to use in his truck. He's a truck driver and doesn't like to sleep directly on the nasty mattress in the bunk. This is the second sleeping bag that I have ordered for my husband in as many weeks. The first one(different brand)was too small so he wanted something roomier.I bought this one because it was much larger, thinking he would finally be happy.Boy,was I wrong!Apparently,it is warm enough for the Alaskan wilderness(according to him). I am giving this bag 5 stars because I'm giving up.He's gonna complain regardless and he likes the size so I consider it a win.I ordered the gray one(he would have preferred the black).I'm keeping the bag but may put my ever-complaining husband up for sale on EBay or check to see if his mother accepts returns.
To be clear, this isn’t a ‘backpacking’ bag. It’s heavy, bulky, and doesn’t compress very small. But the things that make it unsuitable for backpacking make it just dandy for ‘car camping’. If your like me and find the thought of trekking miles into the unknown just to sleep with bears, free range chickens, and man eating field mice mildly disturbing, yet want to do some not-so-serious hiking, communing with nature, and tree hugging, then this sleeping bag is a good fit. I have the 4 pounder and with a self-inflating pad underneath and a quilt on stand-by to throw over me (even though I have yet to use it) I stay nice and warm in my tent. For me, the flannel lining was a necessity. I hate getting into a (really) cold sleeping bag. It may get toasty later on, but I don’t want to have to go through a defrost period to get warm. It’s also nice and roomy. Mummy bags are nice if your a mummy, but I’m not and I like my wiggle room. Like I said, this bag is not for back country trekkers. It doesn’t compress very small and is kinda heavy, but if you need an inexpensive bag for occasional car camping, than at least for me, this would be my first choice.
I am a person that sleeps really warm and a lot of sleeping bags will amplify all that heat, this one did not, it kep mt exceptionally comfortable while providing necessary warmth to sleep comfortably. the flannel pattern is nice and is a nice interior fabric compare to some that are over soft and prone to pilling. it's identical to a set of flannel sheets on the inside very comfortable. I used this product in the wet chilly weather of the northwest in October so it is warm but I wouldn't use it in freezing temperatures the product is only rated for 41 degrees and above and I am confident if used in that temperature range you will stay warm.
I ordered two of these sleeping bags. The sleeping bags themselves are perfect for my needs. I am very pleased with the quality of the bags. Even more importantly, however, I am very pleased with the manufacturer, Redcamp. One of the outer storage sacks that the bags come in had a minor flaw with one of the black compression strap buckles. A tag attached to the sleeping bags said that if you had any problem, to let them know and they will take care of you. Well, that's exactly what happened. I sent Redcamp an email. They replied in less than a day. They asked for a photo of the problem buckle. I sent that. The next day they shipped me a replacement storage sack. This was GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE.
Took it camping in weather with a low between 58-62 degrees. It was warm. The flannel lining felt good. The top is slick and can make noise if you move around much, but it wasn't much of an issue. It was nice because we were camping at a state beach and our 4 year old got sand in our tent on our sleeping bags. On this bag, the sand brushed right off very easily. It was also easy to roll up compact. It's also a good-looking sleeping bag. Very happy with it.
Used cocoon style sleeping bags previous years, and opted to invest in nice sleeping bags this time around. Decided on getting two of the 4lb because the night temps were looking into the 40's range and I rather be safe then sorry. I'm usually a very cold person so I used this sleeping bag and also layered another thin blanket on top just as an extra layer. I slept through the entire night feeling toasty and warm. Really liked the two different fabrics, the outer layer being easy to clean or wipe down any messes, but the inside being a very comfy and soft flannel type of fabric. Near the top opening is a string you can tighten to slightly close up the top so it hugs your shoulders, I felt like that made a difference in keeping the warm air in. The zippers glided smoothly with no issues. I was short enough so I was able to kind of fit my head into the sleeping bag and I think the warm air I was breathing out helped keep me warm throughout the night (I'm aware this isn't the typical way for someone to use the sleeping bags haha) I also thought I saw images and reviews stating you could combine the two, which was my initial intent as I had got this for my partner and I to share to make one large sleeping bag but we could not figure out how to connect them together; which now i'm not so sure if you actually can. If you take you're time and fold correctly you could get the sleeping bags back into the bags but I just rolled them up and tied it loosely to avoid all the hassle of spending 15 minutes squishing it all back in. Overall happy with this purchase, as it will be of good use for at least the next 3-5 years
I just came back from my hiking trip. So I slept in a tent with this sleeping bag at around plus 5 Celsius. It was way more than enough of heat inside, felt very comfortable. I like the material inside, doesn't let you to sweat. Feels very natural, not synthetic. I used for 3 nights. Easy to pack it back to the case and carry on. Not heavy at all, very happy with the product!
while im not a very large person, the room inside is huge compared to standard size bags. using as double size bag and is so comfortable. well made and good zips as well. nice touch to be able to unzip foot end only, great in the hotter weather i would think. overall very pleased with them, would recomend to anybody.
I returned this as it was too bulky for my 8 year old son to carry, he was also going to be using it inside so warmth wasn’t really the issue. However I thought it was a lovely product with a cotton feeling inside which is what I was looking for rather than the cold waterproof material inside. Would recommend but yes, quite bulky.
The sleeping bag is really nice and surprisingly easy to pack. It is quite warm, although if hard floor you can still feel it.
A little colder than expected
Very warm, well made ideal for in my truck but also used for camping in October, so great all round.
Over the moon with this. Perfect for our tall daughter, the quality of it is good & it's cosy for camping.
