I’ve bought and lived in wool socks for 3 decades. My feet always run cold and nothing keeps them warm and dry like wool socks. I’ve tried many different brands at various prize points. But I have a new favorite. People socks! First off, the price can’t be beat even for cheap wool socks. I wasn’t expecting great quality because they seemed too cheap. I also worried since the wool content seemed a little low, around 70 percent. But they feel terrific - thick, fluffy and every bit as warm as my most expensive wool socks. But I also learned something from the care instructions that I never knew. High heat makes wool fibers brittle and flat over time. Before my wool socks had always gotten thin and colder over time. But I have been air drying these socks, washing them inside out. They feel brand new every time I put them on. I love these socks. I literally wear a pair every day.

I've had 8 pairs of these since the beginning of the this year. 7 months of wearing them to work (maintenance mechanic, Gojo-Purell) every day certainly qualifies what I'm about to say about my experience with them.
First, these fit as expected. I wear a size 13 steel toe work boot and the thickness of these socks did NOT make my shoes feel any tighter. I should note that I wear standard shoes, so those with wider feet might not share my experience with the fit.
As far as durability, these don't show any signs of wear as of yet. I work 40 hours a week and my YTD overtime is nearly 140 hours. These socks get put through their paces, and I'm thoroughly impressed with how they've lasted. I expect to get a full year, at least, from 8 pairs. If you're in the skilled trades, you know this isn't the norm.
Washing these socks is a bit of a chore since they shouldn't be tossed in the dryer. We wash them using a mesh garment bag with 5 separate pockets to avoid having to fish them out of the rest of the laundry. This keeps them from getting accidentally tossed in the dryer, where the would certainly shrink due to their composition.
And now for the "overshare" portion of the review: my feet. If you work in a manual labor capacity then you know how skin gets irritated and rashy when subjected to 8 hours of heat and moisture. Multiply that by 5 days a week over several weeks in a row and you can imagine how things can go from "hope this goes away soon" to "I'll gonna have to see a doctor for this!" pretty quickly. It only took about two weeks for any issues I might have had to clear up completely and never return. My feet don't get sweaty, they don't get hot (even when the plant is 80+and humid), and there's no odor. This is the benefit of merino wool.

Overall, I'll be buying these again when the time comes. They are certainly worth the price when it comes to the comfort and condition of your feet.

My husband is a bit of a clothing snob. Fair, as he works hard for his money, and likes nice things- especially on his body. We recently moved to New England and are facing our first winter here, so his Christmas list included warm hats, gloves, socks, etc. On the warm sock front, I did my research, and was learning toward Smartwool and Bombas, but couldn’t get over the price- especially since I wanted to give him several pairs of not-too-thick but warm everyday winter socks. I did purchase one pair each of Smartwool and Bombas, which are indeed nice, but went with the People socks multipack for an everyday basic, and he has mentioned *several tines* how very happy he is with these socks- WOO!
In sum, an excellent value for surprisingly high quality, comfortable, easy care (washer and dryer safe), warm but not claustrophobic winter socks.

As an inspector who spends most of the day on my feet with work boots on, I don't go cheap on my feet - socks included. I had been buying pairs of another leading wool sock manufacturer's boot socks, and having the same thing, thinning heels and ball of the big toe. I had been buying the brand since 1970, and was surprised at how poor the lifetime of the socks were. I looked for American socks, and found these "People's Socks", and found that they really have great longevity - my 8 pairs gave me 6 or 7 years of 8-10 hour, 5-day weeks. I just retire, and bought myself 4 more pairs and retired my thinner ones to the polishing rags.... Try these - you won't be disappointed.

Been cycling through a dozen pairs of these socks for 2 yrs as my primary sock both Winter and Summer. After two yrs I have noticed “1” of the dozen has a hole in a non critical area (darn it!). I wear them usually with large hiking style boots, currently Timberlands... I point that out to say that I always flip the top of my sock down over the top of my boots to hold my laces down, probably you won’t but I want to illustrate that the Top elastic has held up with this practice just fine. I machine wash with Tide Pods, AND machine dry every time with minimal shrinking after 2 yrs. The shrinking just makes it feel like I’m putting on new socks after each wash. Socks provide amazing warmth and comfort in the Winter and make great run around the house socks on cold nights. In summer I can wear them on warm/hot days with minimal discomfort, but even on the hottest days they wick moisture from my feet and keep them feeling and smelling great. I often wear these socks for 2 days straight between washing and have had no problems with smell or durability (occasionally that will be 3 days) so fear not only taking a couple pairs camping and hiking.

Wow these socks are comfortable and high quality. I thought they maybe to thick for my bushwalking boots but they were very cushioning. Spent 4 hrs bushwalking around Mt Loch near Mt Hotham in Victoria few weeks ago in 35 Dec C heat and no blisters or anything else.

i am not lying when i say that these socks are the best i have ever owned, theyre so comfortable, warm, and they wick moisture from your feet. Just be sure to air dry them, the fabric and construction are wonderful but being mostly wool they would probably shrink

Awesome socks! Very similar to the store bought smartwool merino wool socks. A must for northern working or play.

    Nice and warm

    Fast delivery and great product
