Poor quality laces are a minor detail, but mine did shred quickly. Otherwise, a solid pair of boots, as I hoped.

Less than six months into owning these boots, not even wearing them every day, the lace hook snapped off on the right side of the left boot, preventing it from lacing up the ankle at all. I have an older pair from hi-tec that I walked the soles out of over a period of years, and the hooks on these are just as strong as when I bought them. The newer boots' hooks are flimsy by comparison, and I was able to bend the piece that broke off in half between finger and thumb.

Garbage boots. What happened Hi-Tec? You used to bring decent quality at affordable prices, now you're just cheap. I had a pair of these boots for six months and the upper started to separate from the bottom part of one of the boots. I called the service number from the Hi-Tec website and was told by someone at Falcon footwear to fill out a form and send the boots in for a review at my expense (shipping) to a third party footwear vendor (Eastman). Who knows who owns who at this point! Eastman would then determine if Falcon should replace the Hi-Tec boots due to a defect. Are you kidding me!? The answer should have been, 'Where do you live, we will send you a new pair of boots." When I replied to an e-mail with that message and told them they were losing a customer for life...crickets. Message received. I'm done with this brand and I guess they could care less. Going to shell out a few more bucks for better quality and service. What a joke.

    Update: Friday September 14
I just had the half lace eyelet break on me. I never am one to lace my boots or tie them too tight, yet it still broke. I was not happy to see that it was made from cheap metal, nonmagnetic pot metal. And since it is not riveted in the style of most Hi-Tec boots, there is no way to replace it without causing damage to the boot.
According to a brannock device my feet are usually 8 1/2 wide, but with Hi-Tec I usually order 9 wide.
I did that with these boots and was very lucky that they barely fit me. I just have the minimum room for my toes. So You might want to order one full size larger instead of the normal half size larger for Hi-Tec boots.
My other Hi-Tec boots are the Altitude V WP and the Altitude Lite WP. With my experience with both boots I know not to expect the comfort and waterproofing like on my Altitude V. But I do think these Bandera MID WP are a little more comfortable than my Altitude Lite boots.
The sole is exactly like what you find on Altitude Lites, so you know your not going to have any extra problems.
As far as looks go, they look great and would be very good for City hiking during a pub crawl.
Please remember these are hiking boots and not work boots. If you use them as work boots you will probably loose the limited waterproofing in a few months or less. But at least with all the fabric and suede you don't have to worry about mink oiling these boots.
As usual, the laces that come with these hiking boots leave a lot to be desired as they tend to become untied within minutes of tying them. But I did discover for myself that Miscly kevlar boot laces do stay tied very well and ordered what would fit on my new boots.

I used to wear Hi-Tec boots all of the time years ago but for some reason I moved away from them. Well, I'm back! These fit perfectly, are comfortable, and completely waterproof. I have about 15 miles on them already and absolutely no problems. I think I will stick to Hi-Tec for my future boot needs.

UPDATE: I now have owned these boots for a few months and while I'm still overall pretty pleased with them, I found out today that they are NOT waterproof. I stepped into about 3" of standing water and my right boot leaked. I still give them 3 stars because I realize that for a $60.00 boot, I'm not going to get Gore-Tex waterproofing but they should be considered water "resistant" and not waterproof. If waterproof boots are critical to you, go with a Gore-Tex boot.

I purchased these hiking boots for husband, who wore out his old pair of a different brand, and he loves them! I always, always, always read reviews from others who've purchased the product I'm looking to buy and I'm glad I did. There is very informative information provided by reviewers on this particular boot and I took their suggestions and their experience and it served me well.

My husband has a narrow foot but it is so rare we can find boots in a narrow width without spending a fortune. However, these boots are a "normal" medium width so with a thicker sock, they actually fit him quite nicely. And please take note of others comments/suggestions to size up! My husband always wears a size 8; no exception! But given what others stated about the sizing and their experience that when ordering their regular size they find their toes right up against the toe of the boot, I opted to order a size 8-1/2 and am glad I did! My husband will be wearing these hiking boots primarily in the colder months (which is a good part of the year here in Wisconsin!) so he will also be wearing thicker socks. When he tried these on, a size 8-1/2 / medium width, they fit perfect.

These are also a high quality boot. And, I might mention, were half the price of the hiking boots I purchased for him about 10 years ago! He had been in the military and has worn Hi-Tec in the past so he was familiar with the brand. He looked them over, very closely, for any defect and could find none. He loves the color and the support. Again, as one other reviewer stated...the laces are very thick and not likely to keep the boot tied if simply tying them with a regular bow-knot. Instead of going out and purchasing different laces, I suggested he simply double-knot them (I do on every pair of shoes/boots I own) and that took care of the problem. He wore them the rest of the day and they never became un-tied nor did he have sore feet from new boots! He hasn't tested out the waterproof feature yet but he has no plans to go puddle-jumping either. But the snow will fly soon enough here and they'll be tested then. If we find the boots do not deliver on this feature, I'll certainly update my review.

In my opinion, these are very handsome hiking boots and I've no doubt he'll get plenty of use from them. The price is awesome, they are high quality and the traction looks very serious; no slipping expected with these!

4th pair of hitechs and first pair from amazon. Save yourself the hassle and just get them from the store. These must be all there rejects that aren’t sized properly. Build Quality is still there but one was just right and the other too small. With all the reviews stating that they are small one would think they would fix the issue. Not to mention who wants to keep ordering different sizes to see which ones fit. I guess I should have ordered the right shoe in 11 and the left in 10.5. Come on guys quit wasting people’s time.

This is an excellent product. It is attractive and extremely well made of quality materials. Even the small details, such as padding the lacing rivets, is taken care of. I bought my daughter a pair of boots from the same manufacturer and they were the same standard. I consider this product to be the equal of more expensive ones, but watch the fit. I have worn size 9 since high school and I will have to return these for a larger size. I suggest one size up. My daughter's boots had the same problem. But, still, highly recommended.

Boots were delivered very quickly and fit is very good. Quite comfortable for walking and short break in period. I have wide feet, so glad for EEE. If I also find them durable that would move me to 5 stars. *Update after owning for 6 weeks I would say exceptionally comfortable, like my favourite slipper. Not sure they would stand up to heavy serious hiking, but fine for light hiking and walking the dog. If they last a few years I will re-order and make my rating 5 stars.

These boots seem to fit good. They feel good when I put them on. The soul is very pliable and provides pretty good grip on ice and snow. They are warm and very comfortable for longer walks. My knees feel very good using these boots. I wish they had two rows of hooks at the top rather than one row. I have a bit of trouble keeping the left boot tight enough.

My third pair of Hi-Tec boots. I'm now 68+ years old and if I live long enough to wear these out I'll buy another pair. My first pair lasted me more than 3 years of daily wear. Also very easy of the feet and light weight.

I wear a size 10.5 shoe. When I initially ordered this boot, I naturally specified size 10.5. Luckily - I read some of the reviewer comments where (in general) people have stated these boots tend to be 1 to 2 sizes smaller then advertised. As I had just made the order - I quickly canceled - then reordered - but in size 12. They arrived today and am I ever glad I read reviewer comments because the size 12 boot is in reality right around size 10.5 and fits nicely. Nice boots for the price.

    En general bien construidas
Algo suave la suela si la comparas con unas vibram, pero bien.
El único detalle que podría mejorar es la lengüeta , viene algo ancha y no se ve muy estetica.

I really like them, would love to keep them but have to send them back.
I usually wear a 12 but these were way too small for a 12.

They seem like strong tough boots I like them the problem is after reading other reviews I ordered a largeR Size but they were still too small I’m not sure whether to order another pair even bigger?

they are a nice boot, I didn't realize they were insulated. I found the, to be about a half size small. one fits fine and the other feels like it has a wad of something in the toe (there isn't I checked)

I have yet to use this hiking boots, but used stretchers just to give extra space in the boot. They sure look strong and attractive and feel nice on the feet.

I ordered same brand two years ago and was very happy as they were so comfortable. These are tight and small for a size 8 . Not impressed as they went on sale a week after I purchased for $28.00 less . How do I get that refund ?

perfectas para trabajo de montaña, elaboradas de materiales que denotan durabilidad, comodas , un poco pesadas, pero eso puede sacrificarse a cambio de seguridad en tu pisada y agarre.

the boot is to small. There size 9 wide feels like a regular size 8 or 8.5. Had to return. They did look nice. Did not know what star rating to give because I couldn’t use the product.
