Did a bit of research before buying new boots for a hiking trip, these came in on top. I got them a solid few months in advance, expecting a break-in period but these boots were ready to roll right out of the box. They are pretty light and the waterproofing held up through rain, mud, and snow. Had no issues with breathability or temperature, despite a tank top to puffy coat temp range in the mountains. The sole held up great through tons of awkward shifting-rock landings. The lacing system is really nice, there is a transition “clip” between the foot and ankle which lets you vary the tightness in one area, independent of the other. No moving parts, you just tug the lace into place and it stays. Tug again to pull it out. The tongue is connected to the shoe most of the way up so they didn’t shift around at all. They cleaned up quickly and still look great after taking a beating over a full week of adventures. |
I LOVE these boots. They are extremely comfortable, very supportive, and most definitely waterproof! We do a lot of waterfall hunting, so a lot of creek crossings, and frequent muddy conditions. I also tend to roll my ankles, so need a higher boot, these fit the bill. Almost went up in size, but took a chance and they fit great (other brands I have had to go up to two sizes larger!). Will be buying more when these wear out! |
I love thes boots. I have a narrow heel but I like extra room in the toe box. When I lace these shoes they grab my heel and arch area keeping my foot very secure and super comfortable. I hike in the mountains on animal paths and cross country. I had a problem with damage to the ball of my foot which took me a year to be able to hike again. I still have problems with my winter boots for hiking because of that problem. I bought these shoes to take the place of my winter boots. I worried about my feet being cold, but I found that wearing Smartwool socks is working for me. I have been out the last two days in snow with my feet perfectly warm. The tread of my boot is deep and really good for traction. I can’t say enough good about these boots. I like them so much that I’m guessing I will be wearing them year round. |
These are excellent boots. |
I had the previous version of the Quest, and after hiking a few hundred miles in them, I finally wore out the midsole. The insole was fine, the outsole was fine, and the waterproofing never failed, but my feet were starting to be sore after only 6 or 7 mi, which was unusual. Since the Quest 2 was the best pair of hiking boots I'd ever owned, hands down, I decided it wasn't that stupid to go on a 12 mi hike with brand new Quest 3 and no break-in. I was almost okay - I noticed blisters on my Achilles tendons when I was walking from my car after the drive home, that's how close I was to getting away with this crazy stunt. Honestly, I think the blisters could be explained entirely by tying the laces too loose or too tight. Haven't quite figured out the ideal tension yet. |
Love these boots! Fits perfectly and are very comfortable. Boot strings stay tied and great ankle support. Oh...and it’s the best looking boot I’ve ever owned❤️. Feet stay warm in the snow and great traction when it’s wet and muddy. When standing most of the day while wearing the boot my feet do not get sore and tired as they do with my duty boots. |
Fits well and very supportive. May run small depending on which socks you use. If you are using wool hiking socks, go a half size up to account for the sock and swelling at the end of the day. |
Great boots, but buy a whole size or 1.5 sizes smaller than your normal women’s US size. They can be laced down to fit a low-volume foot, and have a narrow heel pocket. I am glad I found these, as most manufacturers of outdoor gear don’t make anything that remotely fits a women’s 6 (note: I bought the 5 in these!) that is sufficiently narrow to keep my foot from sliding around. |
These are fabulous. They cradle your ankle and foot and give a very firm platform to walk upon. I have to wear orthotics due to fallen arches , and on top of that injured my ankle when it gave out beneath me. My orthotics fit inside beautifully and the whole experience was positive. I bought a size bigger than I take in shoes to allow for thicker walking socks and that seems about right. They arrived on time too. |
These replaced an earlier pair of Solomons which had split but had a lot of use. |
I absolutely love my Salomon boots. I was nervous to buy them online as you just don’t know how they will fit and I only had 2 weeks to wear them in before a hike up Snowden. |
They look good took a couple of trecks to break in properly but now they are letting grit and stones in all the time so have to keep taking them off and clearing them out, driving me crazy and hurts too... Don't want to wear gaiters every time I hike that's the only time it doesn't happen. They are rubbish grip wise whether in mud, wet stones, metal grates or cobbles, never had an issue with other brands. Also think they are very heavy when wearing and the boot laces are far too long For the price Salomon you need to rethink your designs especially the soles. Would not reccomend or buy again |
These boots are THE BEST boots I have ever bought and ever worn! I am a half size standard fit and these boots allow me to spread my toes. They haven't rubbed not once from very first wear. They provide lots of arch support and seem to relieve the arthritis in my toes also. They are super light to wear, warm n dry and I have tested them thoroughly and not to mention snazzy looking. Iv had loads of compliments. Overall... A highly recommended boot!!! |
